The first step toward designing your new room
layout, is to get clear and accurate
measurements of the room. These are measurements of the walls and any other openings
(doorways, windows, etc.), not the existing cabinetry, which will be removed. Download

you in recording the necessary measurements.
Sketch an overhead plan view of the room and insert the wall dimensions and any
openings (see sample below)
Draw an elevation of each wall, individually, showing service line locations, window
dimensions, etc. (see sample below)
Note the overall dimensions of all the appliances to be installed in the kitchen
(refrigerator, range, micro/hood, dishwasher, etc.).
